Allah Almighty revealed the Noble Quran as guidance for all humanity, to unite people on the path of truth and minimize their differences. This can only be achieved by understanding the purposes and meanings of the Quran, which highlights the importance and significance of Tafsir (interpretation). Understanding the context of the verses greatly impacts the comprehension of the Quranic text. When asked about the best three Tafsir books, the venerable Sheikh Imam Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned, "In what I know of Tafsir: Tafsir Ibn Jarir, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and Tafsir Al-Baghawi, these three are the best Tafsirs, followed by Tafsir Al-Qurtubi."
To facilitate the reading and contemplation of the meanings of the Quran for the masses, many publishing houses have produced copies of the Noble Quran with annotations (brief Tafsir notes) in the margins next to the interpreted verses. The most widely circulated editions use excerpts from the Tafsir of well-known contemporary scholars who are renowned for their clear and comprehensible explanations.
